Meet Davon (Derek)

“The name is Davon Mindstrider. It is a pleasure to meet you.”

Providing Our DM does not viciously end you in a cruel twist of fate, what kind of person will we find Davon to be?

This is a question I’m looking forward to finding out the answer to as well. Characters I create tend to develop more so during sessions than through any pre-thought situation. I find that any time I have thought I knew who a character was, they end up surprising me by being completely different. So now I go in with little expectations and let them come out naturally. So far what I’ve learned about Davon is he’s insightful, curious, and witty. He doesn’t like to be told he can’t go somewhere or know something; such things make him, more than anything, want to go to that place or learn about that thing.

How is Davon similar and different to you?

Davon and I both seem to be laid-back and carefree characters. It’s a trope I struggle to steer clear of. However, like the old saying goes, you shouldn’t always judge a book by its cover.

Is it easy to roleplay as Davon?

So far, yes. His casual attitude and curiosity make him a fun and, most importantly, natural character to roleplay as. The most difficult part has been his accent. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to try an Irish accent when I’ve never done one before. Luckily for me, in the world of D&D there is no Ireland, so it’s less a bad impersonation and more an implicative articulation.

Any fun or surprising facts about you yourself?

The first time I ever played D&D I had no idea what was going on except I was in a fight with a giant chicken. I think I won.

What would be the perfect weekend for Davon? No spoilers.

I don’t think the idea of a “weekend” would ever cross his mind. If you told him to take a couple of days to relax and to do whatever he wanted, he’d probably just continue doing what he does every day. And what he does every day changes often enough to keep him entertained.
