Meet Our DM (Michael)

“I am going to need you to make a dexterity saving throw..”

Hi, I’m Michael. I’ll be your Dungeon Master for the duration of this flight. Please remain seated, buckle up, and get ready to roll.

Providing Our DM (You) doesn’t end us in a cruel twist of fate, what kind of Dungeon Master will we end up loving to hate?

Michael: As the DM I play with a fun-first mentality. My goal is to tell a story with my friends and have a ton of fun with it. I like the rules as guidelines to ensure the story and action makes sense, I like the dice for adding the random element to the game, but mostly I enjoy the RP and storytelling.

What are some differences between Every Day Michael and Dungeon Michael?

Michael: I DM like I live. I’m a pretty lawful good person, in my opinion, maybe some chaotic tendencies. I am the same as a dungeon master. I mostly never try to kill my party, I just try to challenge them and keep them scared enough to breathe a sigh of relief when they come out on top like the heroes they’re trying to become.

Is it easy to roleplay everyone else in this world that isn’t our party?

Michael: Roleplay is my favorite. I have a theater background and have done a bit of voiceover work in the past. I enjoy making characters, especially improv. NPCs are super fun to create and become for a little while.

Any fun or surprising facts about you yourself?

Michael: Fun fact.. I wasn’t allowed to play D&D as a kid. Grew up in a very strict evangelical home and was sheltered from a lot. I’m still a believer and faith is major part of my life but I no longer believe that my faith is about what I’m against but what I’m for. (i.e. love, hope, forgiveness, and kindness.)

What would be the perfect weekend for you, as a DM? No spoilers.

Michael: I would love a weekend alone to just sit and focus on worldbuilding. I work for myself so there is always something work-related that needs to be done. To let all of that stuff go for a couple of days and just focus on D&D would be a dream.
